Do You Have A Fear Of Church Marketing?

I came across an article a while back from ChurchMarketingSucks based on a poll that asked the question, ?What is your number one church marketing fear- The idea behind the poll is that many churches do not market themselves (or do very little marketing) because the church is afraid. Maybe it’s a fear that the marketing will not be any good, maybe it’s a fear that the church will become dependant on marketing instead of spiritual growth. Are you being controlled by fear?

You can read the article on the churchmarketingsucks website. It was posted in March of 2009.

Are you or is your church afraid to market itself? If so what specifically is that you’re afraid of? Some fears may be valid in the sense that what you fear is something to be aware of and avoid. For example, you may fear that your church will become obsessed with the marketing and loose focus on Christ. Certainly, that is not something you want, but does that mean that you avoid church marketing? If I drive my car to the store, I could get into an accident. I could let that fear prevent me from driving my car, or I could let that fear motivate me to be as safe a driver as I can. I tend to see things from the second approach. I?d rather get the benefits of driving a car while making sure I avoid getting into an accident.

There was a post I found particularly interesting that I found in the comments of the churchmarketingsucks article:

I attended seminary and majored in homiletics (public speaking) to prepare myself to be a pastor. Did I bypass God? Does anyone worry that I?ll be tacky and gimmicky because I did? If it’s okay to use speaking training, isn’t it also okay to use marketing training? Why must Christians bypass known skills and experience to truly lead others to God?

Sometimes Christians fear that using learned skills will somehow lessen the work of God. I would argue that God gave us the ability to learn and that we shouldn’t be afraid to learn useful skills and use them in our service of Him.

If you?ve been trying to get your church to start being more intentional about marketing, but seem to run into road block after road block, it may very well be that some of the people in your church fear something about church marketing. Knowing what that fear is may help you to be able to address it.

If there is a fear of the gimmicky approach to marketing, perhaps you can start with a marketing strategy that is less prone to issues, like Christian search engine optimization. Once you?ve convinced the congregation on one approach to church marketing, you may find that the next step is a little easier.

What do you think? Is there fear in your church of church marketing? What fears do the people in your church have? Do you think these fears are legitimate and should they prevent a church from marketing itself?

The Symbolism Of Web 2.0

The new generation of the World Wide Web, Web 2.0 is booming. It has created services easy for people to access to. Most of the Web 2.0 features are used by blog visitors, but it would not be long till every single Internet user uses it.

These Web 2.0 services have their own respective logos or icons to differentiate their services from one another. Look out for some of these symbols because you’re practically going to see them in almost every website you go to in the near future. In this article, I’m featuring three popular symbols of Web 2.0.

1.RSS Feed Icon

Now why do you need an RSS feed for?

An RSS feed is for you to track your favourite websites and find out if those websites have been updated or not. It’s pretty handy if you have multiple websites you like to view every once in a while and when you find it is too tasking to go through every single one.

To subscribe to an RSS feed, simply look out for a square logo that is orange and white color. When you click on it, It will take you to the ‘feed’ page of the website. Once you’re there, simply click on the ‘Subscribe to this feed’ link. Your Internet browser will then ask where you’d like to place this feed. After that, click ‘Subscribe’ and there you have it!

2.Digg It Icon

Digg is a popular social bookmarking site. Social bookmarking works by ‘bookmarking’ a website, blog post or an article to show that you like it and you want to share it with other people. Digg works by having someone liking an article and asking them to approve of it by clicking on the ‘Digg It’ icon.

You will need a Digg account in order for you to ‘Digg’ someone else’s article and for you to showcase your article to be ‘Digged’ by other people.

A Digg icon includes a light orange square containing the number of times the article has been ‘Digged’ and a rectangular ‘digg it’ icon below it, to indicate where to click to ‘digg’ the article.

3.A Wiki Icon

A Wiki is a social service that allows visitors to edit the information available on the website. One such example of a website that offers this is Wikipedia.

Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia where information is built from the minds of thousands of people on this planet. Although information available in this website is not a hundred percent credible, it is amazing how many people have contributed to the success of Wikipedia.

A Wiki icon in Wikipedia is available before every article, conveniently named ‘edit this page’.

Other websites are skeptical to include Wikis for fear of plagarism, but it won’t be long before more sites find the potential of wikis and start to use it more intensively.

These three symbols are well-known for their services of helping Internet users get used to the new generation of the World Wide Web. And knowing the speed and wrath of Internet technology, I wouldn’t be suprised if every single Internet user in the world know about these services and use them by the end of the year.

What is Unmetered Dedicated Server Hosting?

In your search for dedicated web hosting you may find that you often come across two terms related to bandwidth – unlimited, and unmetered. But what do the two terms mean, and what’s the difference?

The term ‘unlimited bandwidth’ refers to the fact that the amount of bandwidth, or the amount of data transfer, used by the website will be unlimited. The website can essentially have as many visitors as it wants, and it will never shut down or crash. Many web hosts offer unlimited bandwidth on their dedicated servers, but will outline in their terms of service how much bandwidth is actually offered. Because every server, even a dedicated one, is going to have its own limitations, it’s not actually possible for a web host to offer unlimited bandwidth. However, because all the bandwidth on the dedicated server will be used only by one website, the term ‘unlimited’ is an acceptable one. Within their terms, the web host will outline how much bandwidth is actually available on that server.

When you sign up with a dedicated web host that offers ‘unmetered bandwidth’ on the other hand, you may not find a specific limit amount, even in their terms of service. Unlike ‘unlimited bandwidth,’ which means that there will be bandwidth as long as you need it, ‘unmetered bandwidth’ means that the web hosting company will not keep track of how much bandwidth you use. Some web hosts and customers alike prefer the term ‘unmetered’ to ‘unlimited’ because they believe it’s more accurate. However, both terms do essentially mean the same thing; with the exception that with one, you may need to dig a little deeper to find out what your exact bandwidth limitations are.

While the term ‘unmetered’ is never debatable, meaning that if a web host says it’s unmetered it is, the term ‘unlimited’ can cause some to take issue with it ; but this is never the case with dedicated server hosting. When web hosts offer ‘unlimited’ bandwidth on a shared server, it is very misleading because so many different websites are using the same resources. On shared servers, a website’s bandwidth is already quite limited by its very nature and so, neither ‘unlimited’ nor ‘unmetered’ should be used.

The case isn’t so with dedicated server hosting, however. When using this type of host, all of the bandwidth on one server is intended to be used by only website, or one customer. Because of this, web hosting companies can easily and rightfully offer either two options and be correct. While these two terms do have very similar definitions, they still have very slight differences. Choosing one type over the other isn’t as important as knowing whether you need shared or dedicated web hosting; as it’s these two that will ultimately determine how much bandwidth you actually have – and whether or not your web host is keeping track of it.

Top User Experience Practices for Your Website

What people want is changed as we have new trends every year, so adapting your website to the user has become challenging. You need to know what they want in order to make improvements. UX or user experience is one of the most crucial things when it comes to your online store or online service. To attract users and keep the ones that visit your website, you need to make positive changes.

Now as a designer you also need to learn how to attract clients and get their attention. When you want to hire a company like City Tech or similar for your website creation, you need to think before about what you are looking for in your website, what kind of business it is, and what kind of people you want to attract. Everything depends on the market and the demographics of your clients.

Bullet Points

One of the easiest things you can do for user experience is to add bullet points to make it easier for the client to find what they are looking for. Maybe the most important thing in the content is a product, so you need to highlight it. It can also be a piece of certain information or service.

Besides that, you can add a picture that is connected to the key point. This will look more attractive to the reader and they can get straight to the information if they don’t want to read the whole thing. It is better when they stay longer on the page, but it is beneficial when the client is satisfied.

Page Speed

The worst thing for every user is to wait until the page loads, and if it takes longer than usual, they will probably leave. Most of the people have a lot of things going on at the same time which requests faster internet, so loading becomes even harder. Making your website load quicker is very important and there are a lot of details you change to improve this.

Images are the first thing you should compress. You can find a lot of plug-ins that will do this for you. Because on every website we can find a large number of images, you can imagine how big the change will be when you compress everything.

Using White Space

Minimalistic pages have a lot of white space on them because it looks much better and the user will focus on what is in the middle, so the attention is there. But, this unused space can be managed better if you have a lot of information to show to the client.

It is great that it increases the attention for 20%, but there should be a balance between a great design and great content. That is why the placement of your pictures, text or videos is very essential. To know this, you have to study a lot about UX which you can do online through many tutorials. It takes a lot of experience to make the best possible design.

Be Consistent

Everything you do on one website should be consistent. From the images to the content you want to use the same style. You experiment with fonts and sizes. When you start using one font, stick to it. This also includes the type of content you create. If you switch to much you will lose the users that visited you in the first place.

If someone is used to one platform, they already know how to navigate through it. Maybe you use a different font to describe a product and other for about us page. This isn’t a big mistake, but if you have multiple fonts for describing products, you should change that. The page pattern should be the same which includes the order of information you are providing to your users.Click here to read more.

Clean Content

The main reason why someone is visiting your page is to find certain information or a product from your content. It is easy to copy what others are doing, but that is easily recognizable. And when people notice you are doing this, they will find the third website. When you hire someone to make a well-designed website, your job is to keep the high quality with great content. Everything is in the details.

Every user would like to find everything they are looking for at the first page they click on. This is hard to achieve because most of the things clients want are hard to combine into one thing. It depends on the website, maybe you don’t need a lot of content, but for ones that need in order to rank better, it is important to be thorough. Always include an appropriate link, images, and videos that will better illustrate what your content is about. There are professionals that can do this for you which you can find online.

Building a true community in social media, is one of the most important tasks and challenges that brands have to venture into the world of social media, as not only need to win a considerable following but will have to make them feel involved and identified with it.

Thus, the marks shall of worry about creating a culture defining own unique values, essence and personality to keep not only the interest and attention of today’s followers, but will attract new users, always with honesty and transparencies.

Mixing Messages Why Email Marketing is The Perfect Link For Your Online Marketing Campaign

What’s old is new again. Or at least what was overshadowed by the new, can come back in favor. There seems to be a constant shift in what method is best for online marketing campaigns. You might read one day that mobile is hot, then later, it’s social media. Now there’s a lot of talk lately about how email marketing can be a good thing once again. It’s all true.

The numbersThe recent buzz around email – an online digital marketing method that has never really gone away, but was no longer the new kid on the block – centers around a recent survey. Results from Exact Target show that people’s response to email is still higher than that for other methods when it comes to a few critical elements.

* Two-thirds of respondents say they have made a purchase in response to an email from a brand… more than three times the number saying they’d done so from Facebook, or a text.

* Nearly twice as many people share messages via email than Facebook.

* Email is also credited by 59% of marketers as being the most effective channel for generating sales.

* When looking for a deal, email just edges out company websites as where people look for deals from a company they know

I believe those numbers. I have signed up for emails from certain brands, and while I may not always take advantage, I do open, and often act. I get an unwanted text offer and can’t delete it fast enough.

What it meansWhat these numbers tell us, is that because people still respond so positively to email campaigns, they shouldn’t be tossed aside for the bright and shiny newer online toys. They also show that the best laid plan is to focus on cross-channel campaigns. After all, social channels are still pulling in response, and even direct mail can help support the mix. According to a target marketing survey this year, 34% of marketers plan to spend more on direct mail, with 65% looking to fund more for email.

How to get it rightIf you want to dust off your email campaigns, or begin one for the first time, consider some best practices.

* Ask permission before adding consumers to your email list and include ability to opt-out.

* Go for quality over quantity when it comes to gathering lists. Accurately targeted smaller lists will get further than a larger, widely cast net.

* Personalized emails (names) generate higher response rates.

* While brevity has always been touted as the way to go, longer subject lines are OK these days. New research from AlchemyWorx found they are effective when it comes to opening and clicks.

* Clean up any existing email lists to eliminate dead-ends and long inactive accounts

* Offer a value proposition

Remember, when it comes to seeing results, mixing up channels and being patient becomes critical. It can take 3 – 7 connections to get a prospect interested. So when considering how to run your online marketing campaign, don’t count any avenues out. Determine the best mix, don’t forget about the old tried-and-true methods, and work to make your messages and your look fresh. Don’t forget a clear call to action.

Get a Twitter account and use it to advertise specials and make special offers to your Twitter followers. A local pizza business, for example, posts one Tweet a day – their pizza special of the day. It’s re-tweeted hundreds of times to be seen by thousands of users – all without a cent of cost to the business owner.

Yelp and other social review sites are hot in the social media marketing biz. Encourage your customers to help put you on the map by reviewing your business at Yelp, TripAdvisor or Angie’s List. Reviews will help boost your local search engine rankings as well as bring you more customers.

A recent news report focused on the fact that couponing is no longer a mark of being poor – it’s a social status symbol. Buy into the social couponing phenomenon by promoting deals through group-buying sites with a local focus, such as GroupOn, LivingSocial and RueLaLa Local. It’s a fast and easy way to spread the buzz about your business without paying for additional advertising.

Get your customers in on the action by providing special rewards for sharing, liking and tweeting about your business. Many social media marketing consultants specialize in creating branded Share Rewards programs to get a big buzz going about your products, specials or your brand.

These are just a few social media marketing strategies that can boost your local search results and your local visibility in the real world. With the social media marketing landscape changing rapidly, your best social media marketing strategy is to engage an expert in social media management to keep up on the newest tools, techniques and technologies.

Keeping Your Personal Information Separate From Your Ebay Home Business

Many stay at home mothers who run their own eBay business from home may feel uncomfortable using their personal details with their selling account. Since eBay requires that you offer a legitimate address, telephone number, and bank account, it can be a little hard to stay anonymous to your buyers. That means that anyone who makes a purchase from you will have access to your first and last name, your home address, and your telephone number and e-mail address. There are steps you can take to protect this information from being made public to your buyers, however, without breaking eBay’s rules.

For starters, you will have to offer a real address that you can be contacted at, both for eBay purposes, and so packages can be returned to you by your buyers. Instead of using your home address, though, you can utilize a post office box for this purpose. P.O. boxes are managed by your local post office, and small P.O. boxes are extremely affordable for a monthly fee. Using a post office box will allow you to provide a legitimate mailing address for your eBay home business, while keeping your personal information private.

Instead of using your real name, opt to use a business name instead. When you sign up for a seller’s account, eBay will ask you for a business name, if you have one. This doesn’t have to be a registered business name; anything you want to call your business will work for this situation. When you print postage from PayPal, receive payments, or contact your buyers, they will see your business name in place of where your full name would normally show up. This way, your name stays private from buyers.

Registering a new e-mail address specifically for using on eBay and PayPal is usually a good idea, whether or not you want to keep your e-mail address private. With a separate e-mail address, it can be much easier to manage your eBay sales and customer questions, and your PayPal payments. If you are concerned with concealing your full name, when you sign up for a new e-mail address, use your business name in place of your first and last name. This will also keep buyers from being able to find out more information about you online using your regular e-mail address.

A telephone number is something you need to have for both your customers and for eBay, but you don’t need to use your home phone number. You can take on an additional phone line for your home for a small monthly fee, or use a free online service to sign up for a phone number that masks your home phone number. Skype is also a phone service that is completely online, and can be used with just a computer and a headset.

If you worry about buyers having your personal information, using these methods can help keep your sensitive information safe. While most sellers rarely have a problem with buyers discovering their personal information, it never hurts to be safe. And when you choose to use these methods, your business may actually seem more official and professional, which can help your sales, as well.
